The Intel Atom processor uses a brand new design structure that packs in 47 million transistors into a single chip sized at just 22mm (0.87 inches), and it uses just 2.5 watts of power--less than 1/10 of the 35 watts used by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor--for excellent battery management. Customer Reviews

It's All That I Expected5
I think we were all aware of the screen size when we bought our Acer One. That shouldn't really come as any surprise.

I value anyone's opinion, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What someone finds negative, another might not.

As to the fan issue, I have NOT noticed any noise, nor have I noticed any excessive heat issues. I've used the Acer at least 7 straight hours, downloading things and playing on the Internet, and I never encountered any overheating or noise.

This is a lightweight, portable computer, just what it's sold to be. If someone is expecting it to be their main computer, then they'll have to learn to live with the smaller screen size. Otherwise, it has the muscle of any other laptop - even has more GB than my Gateway Laptop.

I must admit that it is fun to play with, but I assumed it would be a great travel companion to watch movies, play games and get through a boring flight, and be able to connect to the Internet at the hotel. Even sign in to SW Airlines to get boarding passes in the "A" group.

My Acer is all that I hoped it would be.

Size Matters AGAIN (Darn It ANYWAY!)3

3.0 out of 5 stars So close,

See my review of Samsung NC10. I loved this but had real problems seeing type and took a lot of time adjusting font's to compensate. Then the fan noise got to me, the overheating and all the negative things so well spoken to here already. Terrible venting and cheap fan gives you a computer that runs HOT and a computer that needs the fan replace, SOON! Oh, but then you void your warranty when YOU install a quality fan.
No need for me to rehash the beaten to death negatives. The good points are NOT to be ignored either. It's just the difference in usability and comfort to the eyes on this screen verses a 10.2 inch screen has to be seen to be believed! Once you compare the two, you will never go with an 8.9" screen.....EVER! It took me less than 3 minutes to upgrade my RAM to 2 megs for under $30.00 and Samsung does NOT void my warranty.
If you really want a screen that is really very hard to see and a keyboard that's really hard to use with an 8.9" verses a 10 inch that solves so MANY problems, I recommend a different brand than this Acer. This Acer will both steal your heart but will more than likely BREAK it too. Too bad.......

I've Always Wanted a Mini-laptop5
This one didn't disappoint. In fact, it has more speed and power than my two-year old desktop. Easy to move around -- even considering other "regular-sized" lightweight laptops. Excellent machine.
